Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

The power company has filed a request to increase electric rates by 5.6-percent—that’s about $4.56 per month for the average customer.

An increase of about 5 to 7 percent would be issued for commercial and industrial customers.

The rise in rates would go into effect as of January 1, 2010. Natural gas rates will not change.
