MEMORIAL DAY TRAVEL

Times are tough, but many Wisconsinites are stilling hitting the road this holiday weekend. Pam Moen of Triple-A says travel in the Midwest is expected to be up 4.5 percent from the Memorial Day holiday last year.

"What we're seeing is auto travel is up. The air travel is down a bit around the country." Says Moen. "I think all of that is a reflection of gas prices. People are still trending toward locations that are closer to home."

The auto club estimates 700-thousand Wisconsin residents will be heading out over the weekend.

Gas prices today are around $2.44 per gallon. Significantly higher than just a couple weeks ago, but significantly lower than the $4.00 per gallon prices we experienced one year ago.
