FOREVER STAMPS AVOID RATE INCREASE
Friday, May 8th, 2009 -- 12:40 pm
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

On Monday, stamps will jump .02-cents, from .42-cents to .44-cents.

But, until then, you can still purchase “Forever Stamps” for .42-cents.

"No matter when you buy it, it just takes on the new price of whatever the postage is," explains Neillsville Postmaster Lisa Schilling, "For instance, if you bought it when it was .41-cents, and you still have them, you do not have to put extra postage with them. You never will."

After Monday, you’ll still be able to purchase for Forever Stamps, but they’ll cost .44-cents.

"Right now (Friday), a book will cost you $8.40. They are always sold as a book of twenty. That's the only way they can be sold. Then on Monday, they'll cost $8.80 for the same-looking, same exact stamp," Schilling says.
