COUNT US IN: CENSUS COMING SOON

The Clark County Board got a report from a U.S. Census Bureau representative Tuesday night.
The once-a-decade count is set to begin soon with forms going out next March.
The theme for the 2010 Census is “It’s In Your Hands,” according to Adelle Ladd.
Area residents should be encouraged to fill out census forms because the count directly affects the amount of state and federal aid an area receives, she said.
"For everyone 1% that doesn't mail back that form, it costs the government $85-million," she said, "So, we have a real incentive to try and motivate people to send it back."
She acknowledged this area is particularly tricky because of the large Amish population. The Amish are typically leery about complying with such government programs, but Census officials have had recent success by explaining responses increase government aid, which, in theory can help lower property taxes.
