The Sheriff’s department reports they recently arrested someone with a serious “lead foot”. Deputies recently clocked a vehicle traveling at 128 mph on Hwy 54 near Black River Falls; that vehicle later crashed.

According to a press release, 19-year-old William Thunder of Black River Falls was arrested and charged with traveling 123 mph in a 55 mph zone, operating after suspension and unreasonable and imprudent speed.

The situation could have been worse, an area Driver’s Education instructor later contacted the sheriff’s department and related that he and his students were almost struck head-on by Thunder, who was weaving in and out of traffic.
