STANLEY WARDEN REASSIGNED
Tuesday, April 14th, 2009 -- 11:24 am
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

The Stanley Correctional Institution warden reassigned to a position at the Redgranite prison says the transfer is demotion and an overreaction to a security drill.

Thirty-8-year-old Brad Hompe says his reassignment to deputy warden at Redgranite Correctional Institution is "punitive and abusive." Hompe begins his job in Redgranite this week. He says his salary is reduced by $6,000.

Hompe said he approved a security drill at the Stanley prison Feb. 5 to see if guards were checking staff identifications. He says he was demoted for violating a policy that requires central administration to be notified of a drill.

Department of Corrections executive assistant Ismael Ozanne says Hompe was reassigned, not demoted or disciplined.
