MSTC GETS MONEY FOR ENERGY PROGRAMS
Wednesday, March 18th, 2009 -- 11:06 am Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director
An area tech school is getting federal money for its new renewable energy program.
Mid-State Technical College will receive just under a half-million dollars in federal government funding for its five renewable energy programs this year.
The money will come from President Barack Obama's $410-billion stimulus package. It will be used to purchase instructional material, equipment and coordinate the programs.
The school currently offers associate degree programs for bio-refinery technology, renewable electricity technician and renewable thermal energy technician, with further expansion of energy efficiency technician and renewable energy specialist programs this fall.
In September, Mid-State will provide five of the six associate degree renewable energy programs in the state.
