MOST BRF STUDENTS STAY HOME

Most Black River Falls students stayed home Monday apparently fearing a rumored school shooting.

Police Chief Don Gilberg says two teens committed suicide in apparently unrelated incidents in the last two weeks.

That touched off rumors of a suicide pact and planned schooled shooting.

While school was in session Monday, two-thirds of the students stayed home.

Gilberg says they launched an exhaustive search of the rumors suggesting the two suicide victims were part of a larger group that agreed to commit suicide. The rumors said those who didn't fulfill the pact by Monday would be shot at school.

School officials took precautionary measures Monday, including using metal detectors and searching students' belongings.
