A routine traffic stop in Neillsville this week led to the arrest of a Medford man who’s been on the run for months.

According to police reports, a Neillsville officer spotted a vehicle speeding down US HWY 10; he planned to pull the vehicle over to give the driver a warning, but it turned into the Holiday gas station.

A male passenger left the vehicle quickly, prompting the officer to become suspicious. When confronted, 24-year-old Travis Spinler fled on foot, running through a parking lot and through a residential area near the Olympic Restaurant.

Officers were eventually able to follow his footprints in the snow to a garage on Court Street where they found him lying on the ground.

Spinler has a lengthy criminal history, including arrests for drugs, battery, burglary and resisting.

He told officers he escaped from a halfway house in Medford and has been on the run for several months.
