A gas leak forced the evacuation of a couple downtown Neillsville buildings last night.

Fire Chief Matt Meyer says a sheet of ice fell from a metal roof, knocking the meter lose from a 1” gas line.

The line, measured at 55 lbs of pressure, was blowing gas into the air.

The Rooster Bar and adjacent building were evacuated. It took crews from Wisconsin Gas about an hour and half to shut off the leak.

No one was injured.
