ESPN.com is reporting New York Jets quarterback Brett Favre plans to retire.

Favre reportedly told his agent, Bus Cook, to tell the Jets of Favre's decision today.

Favre also e-mailed a reporter and said he had no regrets about leaving the game with the Jets rather than with his old team, the Green Bay Packers.

Favre holds National Football League records in career passing touchdowns, yards, completions and attempts.

Neither the Jets nor the Packers had any immediate comment.
