A Chippewa County man accused of shooting six family pets to death - two dogs and four cats - while six children were home faces multiple charges carrying up to 53 years in prison.

The charges filed Tuesday against 33-year-old Raymond Knez (kuh-NEZ'), Junior, of Boyd include first-degree reckless endangerment, possession of a firearm while intoxicated and three counts each of mental harm to a child and mistreating animals.

A criminal complaint quotes Knez as telling a deputy he drank between 26 and 29 beers over 11 hours before the shooting on the morning of January 28.
