SUIT AGAINST CITY OF NEILLSVILLE MOVES FORWARD
Thursday, January 29th, 2009 -- 11:35 am
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

A former Neillsville cemetery sexton’s civil lawsuit against the city is moving forward.

Thomas Greene filed the suit seeking unspecified damages in October.

He says the city didn’t provide him proper notification that they planned to consider his termination, he was never granted an evidentiary hearing and Mayor Diane Murphy made untrue statements about him during a televised meeting.

Greene was fired in 2007.

The City denies the claims and is requesting the case be thrown out.

The case will be considered in U.S. District Court because it involves questions of “due process."

City officials anticipate it could go to trial in September.
