Here's what to expect this week, according to the National Weather Service in La Crosse:
  • Today - Period of snow expected, from west to east, with generally 1-3 " of snow most locations
  • Late Today/Tonight - Winds becoming more northerly and increase. There may be a period (3 hours) of strong winds (gusts 30-40 mph) as the snow ends. Arctic air plunge #1 moves in.
  • Tuesday - Arctic air plunge #1 in place with enough wind to generate Wind Chill Advisories. Tuesday morning may have lowest wind chills (-20 to -35)
  • Tuesday Night/Wednesday - Another storm drops through area with another 3-6" of snow most places. Wind will increase again, especially on Wednesday. Arctic air plunge #2 moves in.
  • Thursday - Arctic air plunge #2 in place with wind to generate more dangerous wind chills. Could see wind chills from -25 to -40 at times
