NEILLSVILLE COUNCIL MOVES FORWARD WITH SIDEWALK EXPANSION

Neillsville’s City Council moved forward on a sidewalk expansion at their meeting last night. The City plans to construct the sidewalk on the south side of Hwy 10 from Willow Street – near the Golf Course – to the Fairgrounds’ entrance. They’ll use a combination of Listeman funds and special payments to cover most of the $40,000 project. Neillsville Mayor Diane Murphy says this is a longtime in coming, and should improve safety…

"The Listeman Foundation has come forward (to help) fund that sidewalk," Murphy said, "I think it's going to be great for the city of Neillsville. There are a lot of safety issues up there - especially with all the happenings at the Fairgrounds -- and now we'll have a sidewalk to keep the people off the highway."

Last night, the council ok’d a task order to have their engineering firm -- Earth Tech Inc. of Stevens Point -- design the nearly half-mile stretch of sidewalk; they also appropriated $15,000 in Listeman Foundation money earmarked for the project.

The hope is the new sidewalk can be done in time for the Clark County Fair in August.
