SUDER, SWIGGUM WEIGH IN
Wednesday, November 5th, 2008 -- 12:23 pm Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director
State Rep. Scott Suder of Abbotsford easily defeated Owen Mayor Tim Swiggum 60% to 40 %.
The two squared off two years ago with a similar result.
The fact that Democrats have momentum wasn’t lost on Suder.
"I'm both humbled and honored. This is a huge democratic year. I think we won the race by staying positive and running on our record of accomplishment," Suder said.
But Swiggum disagreed.
He said Suder sent out an 11th-hour mailer claiming he supported a $15-billion plan to sponsor “abortions on demand”.
"I am still reeling from that late hit piece he put out. I just think something has to be done about that. I have very little respect left for him after that," Swiggum said.
Swiggum says he’s turned the brochure over to the Clark County District Attorney’s office.
