With a lot of close races, it remained unclear when we spoke to Rep. Suder early Wednesday morning if Republicans had retained control of the state Assembly.

Shortly after our conversation, it became all but certain they had.

Suder acknowledged Democrats had done very well in Wisconsin, and around the country.

But, he said it remained to be seen if their success signified public support for ideas, such as universal health care.

"We'll see what happens," Suder said, "I think people in our area, decidedly, don't trust the state government to run their health care."

Suder isn’t ready to concede the Healthy Wisconsin plan will ever become law.

"I don't think so. You have a Democratic governor who's still skeptical about it. You still have a lot of Democrats that still believe it still has very severe problems," Suder said, "There is a lot of discussion, even among Democrats, about Healthy Wisconsin."
