HOW TO REGISTER TO VOTE

A friendly reminder to would-be voters, you must be registered to cast a ballot.

Voters in Wisconsin have been able to register at the polling place on Election Day since 1976. But, they now must complete an application and provide proof of residence.

A driver's license, ID card, residential lease, real estate tax bill, utility bill or bank statement would work, Clark County Clerk Christina Jensen says.

"Any of this information must include the complete name and a complete address, and if the form has an expiration date, it must be valid on Election Day," Jensen says.

Now, if you’ve already registered, you shouldn’t need to worry. You should be on the poll list.

But, if you’ve moved since the last time you registered, you’ll have to re-register.

"You would need to re-register at your new polling place by completing the application and bringing proof of residence," Jensen says.

And, if you have to register this year, you will need your driver’s license number.

"If you have a Wisconsin Driver's License, you must provide that number on Election Day. If you don't have a Wisconsin Driver's License, you can present a Wisconsin State I.D. Card, or the last four digits of your Social Security number," Jensen says.

You can register at anytime at your local clerk’s office or at the polling place the day of the Election.
