WISCONSIN SENATORS SPLIT ON BAILOUT
Thursday, October 2nd, 2008 -- 1:53 pm
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

Wisconsin's senators were on opposing sides when the Senate passed a $700 billion bailout for the financial industry aimed at preventing the economy from going into a recession.

Sen. Herb Kohl voted for the package Wednesday night while his fellow Wisconsin Democrat, Russ Feingold, voted against it.

Kohl said the plan may not be perfect, "but failure to act would be disastrous."

Feingold issued a statement saying the bailout plan "remains deeply flawed" because taxpayers would have to bear the burden for the mistakes of others, including financial institutions and their regulators
