A harsh sentence for an Abbotsford man accused of failing to notify authorities that he moved.

32-year-old Brian Bridenhagen of Abbotsford is going to prison for three years.

According to his attorney, Bridenhagen is on the sex offender registry because of a 1996 conviction for having consensual sex with a 14-year-old girl.

The defense was hoping to get probation. Clark County Assistant District Attorney Dick Lewis recommended only 18-months in prison.

But at a hearing on Thursday, Judge Jon Counsell said Bridenhagen, who has a lengthy record, should be taught a lesson.

He’ll have to serve 3 years probation after being released from prison.
