NEILLSVILLE COMPANY INSTALLS NEW SMOKESTACKS

Anyone driving past the Fleetguard Nelson West Plant in the last week has noticed a change. There are now around 10 huge smokestacks on top of the building.

Plant Manager Craig Kronberger tells WCCN that the smokestacks don’t represent any new machinery, it just keeps the plant in compliance with DNR air quality regulations.

"Last October or November, when the announcement was to keep this plant open longterm, we had to reapply for a new DNR Air Quality permit," Kronberger explains, "The new permit had tighter regulations and required we extend the stacks up 20-feet."

Kronberger believes the extra length allows for the discharge to “wash” more before moving to ground level.
