CELL PHONE BAN COMING TO MARSHFIELD
Friday, August 22nd, 2008 -- 3:04 pm
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

Those that drive in Marshfield have about a week to use their handheld cell phones.

The city's ban on cell phone use while driving goes into effect September 1.

Retailers say they've seen an up-tick in shoppers looking for "hands-free" devices, which are still allowed under the ordinance.

Cops plan a month-long educational period. After that, violators will be fined $145.50 if they're caught chatting while driving.

Signs alerting motorists to the law will be posted at the major entrances to the city.
