THIS SUMMER IS (A BIT) COOLER

It certainly has seemed like a cool summer this year, but data shows it's not that far off the normals.

Jaff Boyne is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in La Crosse. He says the highest temperature recorded in Neillsville this summer was 87-degrees back on July 16th.

The average temperature since the beginning of June has been 65.8; the 22nd coolest summer on record, but only about 2-degrees below the average of 67.6-degrees.

The culprit, Boyne says, are western ridges of high pressure that have been leading to more air from Canada.

Will we hit 90-degrees this summer? It's not in the 7-day forecast and average high temperatures are already on the decline, so it seems doubtful.
