PURPLE PRIZE FOR ETTRICK

Red ribbons are good, blue ribbons are really good, but purple ribbons are great.
Stephanie Attoe of the Town and Country 4-H in Neillsville got a purple ribbon for Grand Champion steer, Ettrick.
It takes a lot of work to raise an award winning "beefer".
"We go and check out different steers…I got mine from Ettrick this year, so we named it Ettrick," Attoe says.
Ettrick was raised with four other steers and fed well.
"We feed them up. We have five in a pen and they get about two pails of grain a day. From there, we halter-break them, bring them to the fair, wash them, clip them and fit them and get them ready for the show," Attoe explains.
Attoe was excited to get her first Grand Champion purple ribbon.
"I've been really close, but I've never quite gotten it. I was really excited that I got Grand Champion."
