At a special meeting Wednesday night, the Neillsville City Council approved a $245,000 grant for Fabricating Specialists, a new tube-bending venture aiming to start a plant here in Neillsville within the next few months.

$95,000 will come from City"s economic development funds. The remainder--$150,000—will come from a Listeman Foundation pledge.

To get the grant money, Fabricating Specialists promises to hire 50 employees within 2 years and keep those employees for 5 years.

NICON Too, a group of local investors headed by Don Quicker, was awarded a $50,000 loan.

They"re in the process of purchasing the 46,000 square foot Leeson building. They"ll then lease it to Fabricating Specialists, a Division of Mayville Engineering Company.

Quicker said he believes MEC will opt to buy the building in a few years.
