SALES TAX UPDATE

An update on the Clark County sales tax issue…
The County Board thought they had approved the 2nd and 3rd readings of the ordinance at their meeting last week, but, sales tax opponents protested.
They noted the motion to suspend the rules, which allowed the body to consider the 2nd and 3rd readings at the same meeting, requires a 2/3-majority vote. The motion passed with only a simple majority.
This week, Clark County Clerk Christina Jensen issued a release acknowledging the mistake.
The 3rd reading of the ordinance will take place on Wednesday, August 13th at 9 a.m.
