AUTHORITIES: PRISONERS ENDURE NIGHTMARE

Wood County authorities call the ordeal two Wisconsin Rapids-area men went through "nightmarish".
Their captor, Edward Lanphear, apparently beat them and sexually assaulted them. But still made time to talk with the two.
"Some of those conversations were purely conversational," explained Wood County Sheriff Thomas Reichert at a press conference Friday, "Some of them were somewhat intimidating and threatening to them in terms of their behavior."
Lanphear also fed the alleged victim chained in basement.
"He had given water to the first victim. He had given some breakfast foods to that person. He'd given some meat to him," Reichert said.
Lanphear has no past criminal record and has worked at a local paper mill for 20 years.
