NEILLSVILLE CAP EXEMPTION REFERENDUM THIS FALL?
Tuesday, June 10th, 2008 -- 11:28 am
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

There seems to be support on the Neillsville school board for sending another revenue cap exemption referendum to voters this September.

While administrator John Gaier noted the district wasn't "desperate", the combination of increasing fuel prices and declining enrollment was making it difficult for the board to "cut fast enough".

He included information on what a 5-year, $300,000 cap exemption referendum would mean for the district; it would actually lead to a mil rate deduction in the first year.

No action was taken, but the board voted unanimously to put the issue on the July 14th agenda. If approved by July 15th, the question could go before voters during the September Primary.
