UW STUDENT FROM MFLD KILLED BY INTRUDER

The person who killed UW-Madison student Brittany Zimmerman, 21, broke into her apartment, according to police.
Police say they generally withhold this type of information if the investigation is ongoing, but opted to release it so neighborhood residents could take safety precautions.
The preliminary investigation revealed Zimmerman's killer broke through a door to get in. The Marshfield native was found dead April second.
An autopsy determined Zimmerman died of "a complexity of traumatic injuries," but authorities weren't specific.
