NEILLSVILLE WANTS CVTC LAND BACK

Back in 2004, Chippewa Valley Technical College built a new 3,700 sq. foot facility on a 5-acre plot of industrial park land donated by the city of Neillsville. The city now wants some of that land back.

According to CVTC President Bruce Barker, the city recently contacted them about the possible "disposition" of about 3.4 acres, which is currently not used.

Barker says the board could act on the request at a meeting Thursday, but will likely agree to give the land back, or maybe "swap" it for some other acreage should they decide to expand their campus.

"My main recommendation is to be a good community partner out there," Barker told us Monday, "That land was donated to us. We're very grateful for it. The entire center, almost, was built with local funds."

The city is not commenting on what possible interest they would have in that acreage.
