PRELIMINARY OPEN ENROLLMENT NUMBERS

The preliminary numbers are in and the area's bigger schools are winning the battle for open enrollees.

While the numbers are not yet official, Neillsville and Marshfield are attracting more open enrollment students than their smaller neighbors.

Neillsville has 27 students coming in, 9 going out for a net gain of 18 extra students. Marshfield has 92 coming in, 72 leaving, for a net gain of 20.

Loyal also will see a positive result. They project 13 students will enroll into their district and 9 will leave for a net gain of 4.

Granton and Greenwood aren't fairing as well.

Granton projects a net loss of 14. Greenwood's numbers are a bit more fluid, but they project a net loss of 19 students.
The open enrollment application period for the 2008-2009 school year closed on February 22.-
