CLARK CO. MOVING TOWARD MANAGED CARE

Clark County continues to move to a "managed care" approach to serving the elderly and disabled.

While there are currently several agencies that deal with those individuals, care will soon be accessed through an Aging and Disability Resource Center, or ADRC, referred to as a one-stop shop for long-term care.

"Right now, there are over 50 people on the waiting list waiting for things like supportive care, personal care," explains Mary Sladich with the Clark County Office on Aging, "What this does…is provide opportunities, by streamlining the way business is done, the money stretches further."

Clark County will team up with Buffalo and Pepin counties to run the ADRCs.

"Each county will have a physical location, but there will be one administration," Sladich notes, "We'll do some sharing of things like marketing and outreach, but each county will have their own identity, their own ADRC office and staffing.

The three counties are currently in the grant-writing phase of the transition. They hope to open the doors to the ADRC, which in Clark County will be located at the Courthouse, by January of next year.

The ADRC planning committee will be holding several public hearings on the move. The first will be Thursday (2/28/0cool.gif at 2 p.m. at the Neillsville Senior Center and at 6 p.m. at the Clark County Health Care Center.
