EXPERT STRESS IMPORTANCE OF ADVANCED DIRECTIVES

If, heaven forbid, something should happen to you that left you unable to make your own decisions, would you and your family be ready?

Thursday morning on In Depth we spoke with Ashley Volovsek of Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville about Living Wills and Power of Attorney documents.

A Living Will tells your physician how you wish to be treated if you can't express your own desires.

A Power of Attorney for Health Care document designates someone to make decisions for you.

These documents can prevent a time-consuming legal headache.
"By law, you'd have to have a legal guardian appointed by the courts, you would have to go through the county and that could cost your family time and money," Volovsek says.

You can get more information about Advanced Directives by calling Memorial Medical Center and asking for Ashley Volovsek or Mary Kipp.
