One person was taken to the hospital Thursday morning after fire broke out a trailer home east of Neillsville.

According to fire chief Matt Meyer, the crew was called to the scene of a house fire in the Pine Island Estates trailer park at around 7:42 a.m.

The home was located off USH 10 in Town of Pine Valley, just east of the Neillsville city limits.

When crews arrived, there was already heavy smoke and flames.

A male occupant was taken to the hospital with possible smoke inhalation. His condition is unknown.

The cause of the fire is not clear, though it could have been electric in origin, Meyer says.

The crews received full assistance from the Granton Fire Department, and returned to the station at around 11:45 p.m.

The home is a total loss.
