INTERFAITH LOOKING FOR HELP AND THOSE THAT NEED IT

After 10 years, Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers of Clark County continues to link volunteers with elderly area residents that need a little help.

Sharon Hendrickson is the program director. She says the services offered through their office are varied.

"Just a few minutes ago, I found someone to shovel snow for a gentleman in Greenwood," Hendrickson relates. "There are all kinds of things out there."

Volunteers also do simple home repairs or chores and offer transportation, but simple visits are also extremely popular and mutually beneficial, Hendrickson says.

"Just hearing the people's satisfaction with that aspect of the program, or on the other hand, hearing the volunteer say, 'what a wonderful day I had'—the volunteer also benefits from that friendly visiting," Hendrickson says.

Interfaith is always looking for volunteers and "receivers". There are currently around 68 volunteers and 104 care "receivers", Hendrickson says.
