TAX REFUND FRAUD HITS AREA

The Clark County Sheriff's Department is warning area residents about a fraudulent tax scheme that turned up in our area.
Authorities says a resident in the Town of Dewhurst received an email claiming they were eligible to receive a tax refund from the IRS. Recipients are instructed to follow a link in the email that leads to a very official looking IRS website.
But, this is not a legitimate website. If you receive a similar email, officials encourage you to delete the e-mail and not to respond.
The Internal Revenue Service never uses e-mail to notify citizens of tax refunds.
The email address used in the scam is service@irs.pp.gov.
