GOOD START FOR STATE, LOCAL HUNTERS
Tuesday, November 20th, 2007 -- 11:37 am Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director
Officials at the Department of Natural Resources say the 2007 gun deer hunt is off to a strong start. Just under 172-thousand deer were registered during the first two days of the gun deer hunting season. That's about a two-percent increase over last year.
Over 70-thousand bucks and 101-thousand antler-less deer were brought in during the first weekend. Warnke says the return of Earn-A-Buck in several regions of the state may have impacted those numbers.
Clark County hunters bagged 5442 deer, second only to Waupaca County's 7021.
