NEILLSVILLE AIRPORT GETS STATE, FEDERAL FUNDS

Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

The Neillsville Municipal Airport is set to get some financial help from the state and federal government.

Governor Jim Doyle has approved a $28,000 project to begin engineering work to design a snow removal equipment building. The Governor's action releases $700 in state funds to help purchase the equipment. The city of Neillsville is contributing $700, and the Federal Aviation Administration will provide the remaining $26,600.

The project will provide a bidding package for the much needed storage building at the airport.

The design work is scheduled to begin in October and should be
completed by spring 2008, when bidding for construction is expected to take place.

The Neillsville Municipal Airport consists of one paved runway, 3,400 feet in length. The airport is located in a high snowfall area and has frequent need to deal with snow removal in winter months. Current storage facilities are not adequate to house the recently updated snow removal equipment.
