WOMAN BLAMES AUTHORITIES FOR DEATH

A Wood County coroner says autopsy results could take up to two months for an Arpin man who died last week following an hour-long scuffle with authorities.

Coroner Gabor Holczer says he can't speculate on how 53-year-old Frederick Nelsen died.

Joyce Ellenbecker of Arpin blames law enforcement for her brother's death Thursday. She believes Nelsen was suffering from oxygen deprivation before his encounter with deputies, and she says their use of pepper spray made his condition worse.

But a Wood County sheriff's deputy says a preliminary investigation suggests that authorities handled the matter properly.

Lieutenant Dave Laude says the department is continuing to review the matter and so far found nothing that would indicate officer misconduct.
