NATIONAL 4-H WEEK

Over 1,000 members can't be wrong.

This in National 4-H week. Clark County has over 23 clubs and over 1,000 members in the largest youth organization in the world.

"The goal of 4-H is to teach kids how to work together, team-building and, most importantly, life-skills they can use the rest of their lives," explains Karen Sipple, 4-H Youth Development Agent in Clark County.

The organization has been around for 105 years nationally. 90 years here in Clark County.

It's not just about rural living anymore.

"It is across the board," Sipple says. "In Clark County right now, over 60-percent of our youth don't live on the farm. Out of that 60-percent, 40-percent don't even live in rural areas."

4-H is open to those from 1st grade through their nineteenth year. If you'd like information, you can contact the Clark County UW-Extension office at 743-5121.

By the way, the "Hs" stand for Head, Heart, Hands and Health.
