PETITION DRIVE FAILS
Tuesday, September 26th, 2006 -- 2:42 pm Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director
It appears the Clark County Board will remain 29 members strong after a Granton-area resident failed to force a referendum that would have cut the board size to 14 members. Back in late July, Pete Hellios filed an “Intent to Circulate Petitions” with the County Clerk’s office. In order to force a referendum, he needed to collect over 1,400 signatures in 60 days. The deadline was Monday, but the petition wasn’t returned. Hellios had said he believed the smaller board would be more efficient and still well represent the County’s residents.
