JUDGE RULES IN FAVOR OF MEMORIAL MED

A judge has ruled Memorial Medical Center of Neillsville was justified in firing a popular Neillsville doctor.

Wood County Judge James Mason ruled this week that Memorial Medical Center was not only justified in the termination of Dr. Peter Chambers in May of 2004, they were actually obligated to fire Chambers based on allegations he had made inappropriate racial and sexual comments.

In his “declaratory judgment”, Mason rules the hospital followed procedure in investigating the complaints against Chambers, and gave the doctor a chance to respond – Chambers declined.

The ruling also dismisses Chambers counterclaims against the hospital.
