WEDNESDAY IS FLAG DAY
Tuesday, June 13th, 2006 -- 2:04 pm
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

The Neillsville American Legion will be holding a Flag Retirement ceremony Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. If you have a worn or tattered flag, you are encouraged to drop it at the Legion for a proper burning retirement.

According to the National Flag Day Foundation, “the National Flag represents the living country and is considered to be a living thing”.

United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10 explains in great detail how the Flag is to be displayed, viewed and ultimately disposed of with a proper burning service; Flags should never be discarded in a trash can.

Neillsville Boy Scout Pack 43 will present a ceremony at the Flag Pole on the Plaza at the Highground today at noon. Everyone is welcome to attend.
