WOLF INCIDENTS UP IN WISCONSIN

Meanwhile, a new study finds wolves killed or injured livestock on 25 Wisconsin farms last year -- that's triple the number of farms of just four years ago.

Among the 37 livestock killed by wolves last year was an injured horse and two newborn colts. He says killings of horses by wolves has been rare in recent years, according to the DNR's Adrian Wydevan.

He says wolves also killed 17 dogs last year, triple the number of a year ago, but that is not unprecedented number of deaths.

An outspoken critic of how the state has managed the wolves, Jim Johnson Junior of Hixton in Jackson County, says something has to be done because livestock killings on 25 farms is 25 farms too many.

He argues that the days when the wolf could roam free is a thing of the past because there's too many people competing with them for the same space.
