Construction is scheduled to begin next week on a $460,000 contract to make improvements to US HWY 10 in Neillsville.

Crews from Chippewa Concrete Services will reconstruct the US 10/Grand Avenue intersection to add left turn lanes on US 10, improve radii, and add traffic signals.

US 10 will be closed between Grand Avenue and the WIS 73 north intersection.

A detour using County B and WIS 73 will be available.

Construction is scheduled through July 2006.

Built in 1993, an average of 9,300 vehicles travel the highway daily. These are the road's first improvements.

Also, construction is scheduled to start this week on a $3.7 million contract to improve WIS 98 in Clark County.

Crews from Mathy Construction will resurface 9.6-miles of pavement between County K in Loyal and the east county line. This contract also includes beam guard replacement and intersection improvements.

Construction is scheduled through September 2006. WIS 98 will remain open during construction with moving lane closures. Motorists should remain alert to changing traffic conditions.

Federal transportation funds will pay 80 percent of the project costs with
state transportation funds paying the remaining 30 percent.
