A man facing life in prison for the brutal murder of his wife at their Ayers Street, Neillsville, home will be going to prison for a long time on old charges in Wood County.

Here in Clark County, 34-year-old Daniel Peterson is charged with 1st-degree intentional homicide for the stabbing death of his wife, Vickie.

At a probation revocation hearing in Wood County this week, Peterson was sentenced to 32-years in prison on burglary and arson charges.

Wood County Judge Edward Zappen sentenced Peterson to 16 years in prison on the burglary charge and 16 years in prison on the arson charge. The sentences will run consecutively.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred in January 1996. Peterson was charged with breaking into a Marshfield man’s garage, burglarizing the property and then setting fire to the man’s vehicle.

He pleaded guilty to the charges back in February of 1997 and was sentenced to 10-years in prison on one count of burglary; he was given probation on another count of burglary, and one count of arson.

Peterson’s probation was revoked, leading to this week’s stiff sentence.

Peterson has already been sentenced to 8 years in prison on charges brought against him in Illinois and is facing new charges that he battered a fellow inmate at the Clark County Jail.
