While we were enjoying our Thanksgiving meals on Thursday, the Neillsville-based detachment of the 128th infantry were getting used to Kuwait.

Nancy Olson, wife of Staff Sergeant Todd Olson of Loyal, tells WCCN that the troops left their base in Mississippi on last Tuesday. They arrived in Frankfurt, Germany, on Wednesday morning and then flew into Kuwait on Thanksgiving. Olson says the troops have been adjusting well, but were surprised at how cold it was in Kuwait – where temperatures dropped to 30-degrees at night. Part of the regiment will be flying to a base inside Iraq – probably northern Iraq – in a few weeks. The remainder of the division will be going in by ground.
