Community leaders hope the Yellowstone Trail will bring big tourism dollars to northern Clark County.

The Trail consists of roads running from Plymouth Rock on the East Coast, to Puget Sound, Washington on the West Coast.

Friday, a new segment traveling through Curtiss, Owen, Withee and Thorp will be dedicated with a caravan beginning in Curtiss at 7:30 a.m.. Lt. Gov. Barb Lawton will help dedicate the new segment with a speech in Thorp at 10 a.m.

Thursday on Viewpoint, Sheila Nyberg, the Executive Director of the Clark County Economic Development Corporation, said the trail could be a boon for the area economy.

"People want a unique and special experience," Nyberg says. "The people really have some imagination in putting together some really fun and entertaining things. We have some shops that will really gain from any tourism we can create up there."

The Yellowstone Trail segment from Cadott to Curtiss has been marked with signs and yellow rocks, Nyberg says.
