-A Boyd man arrested this spring in a deadly crash has pleaded not guilty.

According to the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Department, Andrew Schmitt, age 32, was the driver of the truck that hit a power pole on Highway N back in April. The crash killed Nicholas Neuenfeldt, age 40, of Boyd and knocked out power to 20 homes for nearly 2 hours.

Schmitt has one count of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and one count of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle filed against him.

During his arraignment on Tuesday, Schmitt did plead not guilty to the charges. He will appear in court again in September.
