Neillsville City Council Approves Public Works Items

-The Neillsville city council approved two items brought up during the Public Works Report at Tuesday’s meeting.

The first item the council approved was an amendment to the lease of liability regarding the city wells. As many are aware, Mathy Construction has purchased Boon Construction which includes property that the city wells are on.

The two companies want to add wording to the lease that was originally put in place by Boon Construction. The city said it would be happy to work with both companies to do add the wording, but there is a lot of legal "red tape" that must be worked through for it to happen. In the end, it was decide that the lawyers for both construction companies would call the city attorney.

The second item approved by the common council for Public Works was the Change Order Part A and B for the Water SCADA System.

Part A consisted of additional digital outputs, relays, and other delays that were missed by the engineers when the built the system. The cost for that came to 2,496 dollars. The mayor and council members were unhappy about this expense and wondered how the engineers missed it. They also wondered if the city could receive any type of refund for the negligence. Public Works Director, Dave Flynn, said they had to be paid and he doubted and money would come back, but he’d ask.

Finally, Part B consisted of parts that the engineers initially cut out of the design thinking the city didn’t need it, but in truth they did. The cost to that came to 1,918 dollars. The council approved it and didn’t have an objection to it like they did with Part A.
